I didn't because my hubby and I lived together before marriage. So I dressed up in an ugly UGLY blue dress and went to the courthouse to get married by some impersonal judge named Scott something or other.
I knew that would be the consequence to my actions before we chose to live together.

why was that the consequence?

what did that have to do with WHERE you got married?

Because my church wouldn't have married us unless we moved apart from each other, but we wanted to get married NOW.
And the WHERE isn't the issue. My big white princess dress (white signifies purity) was what was missing, and that's what I'm sad about.

Because I don't think it's crazy. it was my choice because a wedding to me symbolizes the beginning of a marriage and the symbol of purity. Dave and I were already living as a couple and definitely were not pure.
So that's that. It's actually a very sensitive subject for me.

oh ok, I didn't mean to bring it up if you were sensitive about it.

this is interesting. i actually think you did the right thing, mair.

i think many people don't see your reasoning, but i think i do. i wonder about a church ceremony at some point though, just because marriage is ordained by God. hmmm. as for the wedding dress, it's just been a short time in history that the whole white dress/purity thing has existed. my older relatives wore new dresses, but of color - and they were 'pure'.

i'm just rambling. but i think it's interesting to meet a woman who decided against a pageant because of principle.
